weekly music roundup August 18

BLOG COMING OUT ON MONDAY what a crazy occurrence. I know I still owe some writing about the time travel stuff but I’ve got shows for you. I might be slightly less like, linky and stuff just cuz I’m entirely on the silly little slapchoplaptop. It’s better for the writing part but it’s slower and smaller and worse at visual layout stuff. I’m out of town till friday so please go to the shows I cannot. (also I’m realizing that sometimes the pictures I put in don’t fully render fully and this site doesn’t let you zoom in when you click but I think ‘open image in new tab’ will let you get the full thing still?)

AUGUST 19

The Laura Hugo Residency at 331 continues, with some really massive talent. Clayton Ryan has the juice. This is gonna be a good time, I’m personally guaranteeing it. You can come demand your money back from me if I lead you astray. Conveniently for me and my big mouth, this is a no cover show as are most of the offerings at the 331 :3

August 21

Tracking down the address for this one. You can kinda get the vibes of this one by looking at how the bands do their typography. Doom metal stuff. It’s gonna be cool as hell. It’s got the queer ritual cosign, which is always good, and shows like this are always a great excuse to dress really cool and do some crazy makeup!!!!

AUGUST 22

LOOK AT THIS LINEUP BABEY. Malamiko is killer, Ghosting Merit is Killer, ADMIRAL FOX IS KILLER. Soulflower is probably killer based on their company! Pillar is a good venue! These are good bands! I’ll be back in town and trying to make it to this one! FUCK YEAH!!!!!!!!

AUGUST 23

I feel ashamed to admit this but this is a space where I like to encourage honesty and transparency so I’m going to level with you. I don’t know what a battle of the bands actually entails. But we’re going to find out together. Because I’m not missing a chance to see Blue Driver and Critterthing. So. Also they have a pour wall at cancan which is pretty fun. Let’s go to this together and then play video games with C from Critterthing afterwards. I’ll introduce you, she’s cool.

Bonus non-music occurrence!!! We have another queer zine fest!!!!!!! I’m not gonna be hawking my wares at this one but you can come get that really evil horny zine from Exene F (and there’s doubtless other cool ones out there). Zine fests are really fucking amazing and you should go to them basically is my stance on this.

I think TIGERRS is having a queer beach day on sunday too, might be worth checking their insta if you’re trans and you don’t often get to have comfy swimming adventures. I think that’s all I’ve got for you this week, event wise! Stay frosty champs.
